ZAPATA, TEXAS---Elena G. Benavides 90, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at her residence in Zapata, Texas.

Ms. Benavides is preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Benavides; daughter, Nilvia Elena Benavides; parents, Indalecio and Tomasa Garcia; brothers, Angel Garcia, Manuel Garcia and a sister, San Juana (Felipe) Salinas.

Ms. Benavides is survived by her son, Roberto H. (America) Benavides; granddaughter, Alyssa Ysela Benavides; step-children, Amy Villarreal, Gildardo (Vanessa) Villarreal; step-grandchildren, Gizelle, Gil and Gianna Villarreal; sisters, Mabel Garcia, Esperanza (†Aguinaldo) Navarro; sister-in-law, Angelita Garcia and by numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation hours were held on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Saturday, February 3, 2018 we opened at 8 a.m. and the funeral procession departed at 10:30 a.m. for an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services followed at Zapata County Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
