ZAPATA, TEXAS---Eduardo A. Lopez 68, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 peacefully surrounded by his children at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. Lopez comes from a hardworking family of seven brothers and three sisters. He began to work alongside his father and brothers at the tender age of 9. By the age of 12 he was hired as a stock boy at D&E and remained with them as head butcher until 1975. After which, he opened his first business, Lalo's Drive Inn. His success and motivation gave him the determination to build his own Lalo's Meat Market. In 1978, Mr. Lopez saw the need to have a deer/meat processing shop, so as to better serve our community and out of town hunters. To this date, Lalo & Lalo continues to expand its services making Mr. Lopez' dream a legacy.

With God's grace and medical technology, Mr. Lopez defied his 10-year life span prognosis to 22 years. His children and grandchildren gave him the daily energy, faith and motivation to continue living. Though he has gone from this earth, Eduardo, Lalo, will remain a man of his word, honest, hardworking and a role model for the community and his family.

Mr. Lopez is preceded in death by his daughter, Elsa A. Lopez-Caballero; parents, Manuel and Araceli Lopez; brothers, Efrain A., Eustolio A., Edmundo A., Eloy A., Enrique Lopez; sister, Elva A. (Gerardo, Jr.) Gutierrez and brothers-in-law, Jack L. Moore and Jorge Gonzalez.

Mr. Lopez is survived by his children, Eduardo A. (Delinda A.) Lopez, Jr.,  Elisa A. (Jesus G.) Lozano; grandchildren, Vilma L. Caballero, Viviana L. Caballero, Elaine A. Lopez, Eduardo A. Lopez, III, Estevan A. Lopez. Delena A. Lopez, Matthew C. Roberts, Elsa A. Lozano, Sofia C. Lozano; great-grandson, Emmanuel Ruela, Jr.; brother, Eliseo A. (Flora) Lopez; sisters, Elda A. Gonzalez and Estela A. Moore; sisters-in-law, Irene F. Lopez, Yolanda G. Lopez, Blanca S. Lopez and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Greg Gutierrez, Eustolio A. Lopez, Jr., Efrain A. Lopez, Esteban A. Lopez, Eloy A. Lopez, Jr., Sammy Peña, Jerry Gutierrez, III and Victor Sanchez.

Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

A graveside service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Zapata County Cemetery.

Due to the current pandemic family has requested a private viewing for immediate family only. Public can remain in their vehicles while at funeral home and follow in the procession to cemetery and again remain in the vehicles while funeral is taking place at the Zapata Co. Cemetery. Family would like to thank everyone for the flowers, food, prayers or any other acts of kindness.
