With heavy hearts and steadfast faith, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dorotea Cruz Pizaña. Dorotea, lovingly known as Dorothy, went to be with the Lord on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025.

Dorothy was born to Nasario and Herminia Cruz on December 16, 1951, in Los Fresnos, Texas. She was a woman of deep faith, unconditional love, and quiet strength. She devoted her life to her family, always placing their needs before her own. Her home was filled with warmth, comfort, and prayer, and her presence brought peace to everyone around her. She found her greatest joy in caring for her loved ones and treasured every moment spent with her family.

Dorothy lived her life rooted in faith, trusting God through every season. Her prayers were constant, her love endless, and her strength beyond compare. While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now resting in the arms of Jesus, free from pain and reunited with loved ones who went before her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nasario Cruz Sr. and Herminia Gomez Cruz, and her sister, Yolanda Cruz.

Dorothy is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Raymond Pizaña Jr.; her five daughters, Veronica Pizana, Virginia (Jaime) Gonzalez, Victoria Pizaña-Garcia, Elizabeth (Jose Homero) Gonzalez Jr., and Sarah (Ricardo) Garcia; her nine grandchildren; and her five great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her three brothers, Nasario Cruz Jr., Jose (Bertha) Cruz, Abel (Ida) Cruz, four sisters, Olivia (†Jesse) Lira, Lucy (Arturo) Alvarez, Mary (Tony) Morales, Yolanda Cruz and numerous nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish her love and guidance.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. with chapel service at 10:00 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.

A special thank you to Holy Savior Hospice and Dr. Mohsen Mahani for their compassion and loving care they provided for our beloved mother. Though our hearts are broken, we hold tightly to God's promise and the hope that this is not goodbye, but until we meet again.
