ZAPATA, TEXAS---Donna Oleta Young passed away on March 2, 2018. She was 94 years old and was known by many different names, she was Donna Harmon beloved daughter to Chief John and Ruth Stacy Harmon when she was born in Colony Oklahoma on July 26, 1923. She then became Donna Young after she met Don Young while working at the five and dime store in McAllen, Texas, and they married in 1942, she was known to her 3 children Darlene (Rey) Farias, Diane (Johnny) Bradley and Danny (Peggy) Young as Ma-Ma, in later years, she was "Nonnie" to her grandchildren Kim (Ruben) Trevino, Kristie (Eddie) Rojas, Lisa (Douglas) Gonzalez, Donald Dallas (D.D.) Young, Ashley (Sammy) Hutchison, Heath Young, Elizabeth (Dalton) Beam and Sean and Daylon Miller. As her status grew, she was known as "Great Nonnie" to Kayla and Hope, Hannah, Jacob, Allyssa, Sienna, Annalise, Allison, Hailey, Landon.

Donna had a true passion for antiques and traveling. For many years, she traveled all over Mexico in search of antiques and primatives which in turn she sold to antique dealers in Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas. During the summer months she would take her grandkids and together they would travel selling antiques to her friends. While she owned several antique shops in her lifetime, she preferred to be a traveling antique dealer. While selling antiques was her job, she considered these trips as vacations with her grandkids. Her grandkids fondly remember these trips with "Nonnie" as some of the most precious memories of their childhood. Most of us have only known life with her and wonder how the world will continue to turn without her. We will miss our beloved Nonnie dearly.


Visitation hours were held on Monday, March 5, 2018, at 8 a.m. with a chapel service at 10 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

Committal services followed at Zapata County Cemetery.
