Domingo Sanchez, Jr.'s Obituary
ZAPATA, TEXAS---Mr. Domingo Sanchez Jr. passed on Saturday, February 24, 2018. He was born in Three Rivers, TX on May 10, 1925 to Domingo Sanchez and Guadalupe Guerra.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ida R. Sanchez, a daughter Edula Gutierrez, a brother Ricardo Sanchez, and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters Rosalinda Gonzalez (+Carlos) and Lucila Villarreal (Aurelio). He is also survived by his grandchildren Irma Guerra (Clyde), Carlos G. Gonzalez, Jr.(Elizabeth), David Gonzalez (Erica), Maria Guadalupe Cisneros (Daniel), Xavier Gutierrez, Patricia Saldana (Omar), Judisa Rosenthal (Ross), Aurelio Adrian Villarreal and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Leandro Sanchez (Zoila) of San Diego, TX and other relatives and friends.
He was an Honorable Discharged Disabled WWII Veteran who served during the Pacific War. He was a Purple Heart Recipient.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Mary Plattner and the Falcon Lake Nursing Home staff for all their care.
Pallbearers were Clyde Guerra, Jr., Carlos G. Gonzalez, Jr., David Gonzalez, Xavier Gutierrez, Ross Rosenthal, and Aurelio Adrian Villarreal.
Honorary Pallbearers were Omar Saldana, Jr., Daniel Cisneros, Clyde Guerra, III, Caleb C. Guerra, Justin Joe Gonzalez, Carlos G. Gonzalez, III, Jerek A. Gonzalez, Carlos D. Wisdom, David E. Gonzalez, Jr., Juan Carlos Garcilazo, Jr., Javier Cisneros, Nathaniel Cisneros, and Ross Joseph (RJ) Rosenthal. Honorary girl pallbearers, Idalinda Inez Guerra, Adelina Wisdom, Andrea Cristina Saldana, and Emily Marie Gonzalez.
Visitation hours were held Monday, February 26, 2018 at 8 a.m. with a rosary at 9 a.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.
The funeral procession departed at 10:30 a.m. for a 11 a.m. funeral mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Burial services followed at the Zapata County Cemetery, including full Military Honors by the American Legion Post 486 Color Guard.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
