Dianne Lavake (Montgomery/Brock), 79 years old, of Zapata, Texas and White Deer, Texas, departed this world on February 8th, 2024.

Dianne was born in Northampton, England on May 5, 1945 to parents Joe and Anne Montgomery. She and Anne migrated to the United States when she was about 10 months old to join Joe. She graduated high school in Littlefield, Texas. She is survived by her sister Cyndi Peel of Del Rio, Texas, and her son. She joins her other siblings, Mike Montgomery, of Littlefield, Texas, and Robert Montgomery of Muleshoe and Lubbock, Texas, and her parents, in heaven.

Dianne was a loving mother and homemaker. She and husband Tommy Brock moved to White Deer in 1976, where they purchased their first home. She then joined the workforce as a tax assessor, and eventually went on to become the chief appraiser for Carson County, where she worked hard so that she was able to retire at a very early age. She and Tommy divorced around 1977. In 1980, she married her true love, Ervin "Buck" Lavake of White Deer, who passed away in 2010, with her by his side. They enjoyed the winter Texan lifestyle, with homes in South Texas in the winter, and the Texas panhandle in the warmer months.

She was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but she also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. She was generous and loyal.  She loved dogs and cats.  She was an avid reader, and absolutely loved to play games, like Rummikub and dominoes.  She loved a good joke. She remained full of love for those who passed on before her. She will be missed dearly by many, including her only son, Chris Brock of Chicago, Illinois.  She carried herself with dignity and strength.

Per Dianne's stated preference, there are no formal services planned, and certainly no pomp and circumstance. A celebration of life will occur with details to be determined.
