ZAPATA, TEXAS---Dagoberto Flores 85, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 surrounded by his wife and children. He was a man of strong faith a devoted husband, a loving father and a caring grandfather and great-grandfather.

Dagoberto was born in Guerrero, Tamaulipas to Ramon and Petra Flores on September 20, 1936. It was in Guerrero that he met the love of his life Barbarita. The couple married on February 26, 1956.Together Dagoberto and Barbarita raised a beautiful family. Shortly after the couple married they decided to relocate their family and moved to the US to begin the next chapter of their lives. Dagoberto worked for Reynolds manufacturing and the family lived in various cities. Dagoberto and his family settled permanently in Zapata, Texas in 1973. Over the years he became known for his skilled carpentry and woodwork. His skill and talent for woodwork can still be seen throughout Zapata in the numerous homes he helped build. Dagoberto later put his carpentry skills to use for the benefit of the teachers, students, and administrators of Zapata. He worked for the school district until his retirement and during this time built desks, shelves, benches and many projects for the staff and students of Zapata. During his retirement, he enjoyed going to the Porras ranch where he continued with ranch work and his love for the great outdoors. His family and loved ones will miss his sense of humor. Dagoberto, whether sitting at home in his favorite recliner unwinding after a long day, working on a project in his shed, or in the middle of a long work day was always ready with a quick witted pun or joke to help lift the spirits of those around him. He was never one to complain and instilled in his children the importance of working hard and enjoying ones work. Dagoberto's legacy will live on through his loving and devoted wife Barbarita as well as their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who each carry a piece of humor, patience, positivity and perseverance.

Mr. Flores is preceded in death by his grandson, Marco A. Flores; parents, Ramon and Petra Flores; brothers, Timoteo (Maria Inez) Flores, Ramon (Maria G.) Flores, Jose Maria (Irene) Flores, Leonardo (Librada) Flores, Ovidio Flores; sisters, Maria Celica (Manuel) Ramirez, Petra Flores, Raquel S. (Filiberto) Trevino.

Mr. Flores is survived by his wife, Barbarita Flores; son, Juan Ramon (Esther) Flores, Dagoberto Jr. (Magda) Flores, Gilberto (Imelda) Flores; daughters, Raquel (Javier E.) Zapata, Albeza F. (Jesse) Porras; grandchildren, Juan R. Jr. (Valerie) Flores, Dagoberto (Marcela) Flores, Eduardo M. Flores, Cristina (John D.) Charles, Alyssa M. (Jerry) Cantu, Andrew R. Flores, Gabriela R. Flores, Lynette A. (John) Tejada, Liz Arely (Robert) Garza, LeeAnn (Arturo) Gonzalez, Javier E. (Irene) Zapata, Jr., Arianna M. (Ricardo) Salinas, Felix M. (Amanda) Garcia, Carlos J. Garcia (Michelle Jimenez), Ricardo G. (Natalie) Garcia; thirty great-grandchildren; sister, Belia (†Cosme) Gonzalez and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

A private service was held.

The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to Dr. Garza Gongora, Altus Hospice Care of Laredo and to Champion Care for their compassionate dedication to his care.
