SAN YGNACIO, TX---Cristina Lydia Garza, 84, of San Ygnacio, passed away on April 7, 2021.  She was born in San Ygnacio, Texas to Cristino and Librada Garza.

Tita, as her family so affectionately knew her, obtained her GED, earned an Associate in Nursing and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse at the age of 40.  She worked for Mercy Regional Medical Center for twenty years.  Tita had great work ethic and displayed a great deal of compassion for all her patients.

She was a great baseball player in her youth and joined the hospital's baseball team.  Tita spoiled all her nieces and nephews.

Tita was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Carolina Lilia Copado and brother-in-law, Hector Manuel Copado.

She was survived by her sisters, Margarita (Ovidio) Elizondo and Alma (Javier) Peña and one brother, Angel Garza.  She was also survived by nine nieces, three nephews and numerous cousins and friends.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home in Zapata, Texas.

On Monday, April 12, 2021 we will open at 8:00 a.m. and depart at 10:00 a.m. for a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. at Panteon Del Pueblo Cemetery in San Ygnacio, Texas.
