ZAPATA, TEXAS--- Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Carmen L. Garcia, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2023 at LMC in Laredo, TX surrounded by family.

Mrs. Garcia is preceded in death by her husband, Silvestre Garcia Jr.; son, Sergio Silvestre Garcia; grandson, Ricky Peña III; mother, Elvira R. Landeros; and sister, Nellie Hardin.

She is survived by her sons and daughters:  Alma (Ricky) Peña Jr., Carlos (Melba) Garcia, †Sergio (Letty) Garcia, Gracie (Enrique) Zavala, Sandra A. Rodriguez, Felix Garcia, and Norma Madrigal along with 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, many nephews and nieces that she also loved like her own children, and numerous cousins that were loved dearly.

She had a beautiful life along her beloved husband, Silvestre, of over 50 years, her mom, Elvira, who she cared for all her life, and her 6 children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

She will forever be remembered as a caring, hard-working, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who had strong faith, hands of service, and a big heart.

She loved her family, spending time at the ranch, and owning her own restaurant, The Blue Bonnet Café which she managed for 10 years. She had amazing culinary skills and enjoyed pampering her family with her delicious meals and special gatherings.

Her love is etched in many hearts through her acts of kindness, wisdom and words of encouragement and her legacy will carry on.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to her loving nurses; Elva (Vita) Garcia and  Marisol Gonzalez, Physical Therapist Sara Arambula and her CNP, Mrs. Mary Plattner  for their genuine care and the love they showed her.

Visitations hours will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 9:30 am for a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
