Benito Garcia III, 49, of Laredo, Texas, passed away on May 17, 2026. Born on August 6, 1976, in Laredo, Texas, Benito was the son of Benito Garcia Jr. ✝ and Azel Garza Alcorta. He grew up in Laredo and graduated from United South High School. Benito proudly served in the United States Navy, where he achieved the rank of Gunner's Mate Second Class. He later attended TAMIU and the SWTX Law Enforcement Academy, pursuing a career in law enforcement. He went on to build a career as a Peace Officer and Correctional Officer, where he was known for his integrity, dedication, and service to the criminal justice system. Beyond his professional life, Benito was passionate about animals, dogs, physical fitness, and bodybuilding. He enjoyed smoking ribs and brisket and loved spending time outdoors camping and going to the lake. Benito was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, listening to music, l laughing, and creating memories with the people he loved most. He will be remembered for his unforgettable sense of humor, his funny voices, playful personality, and silly dance moves that always made others laugh. Benito also loved surprising his loved ones with small gestures and cooking delicious meals for family gatherings. He is survived by his siblings: Margot Garza (Jorge A. Garza), Marisol Montes (José A. Hernández), Ismael Saucedo (Delfina De La Cruz), and Lourdes Mathieu (Bobby Mathieu); and by his loving nieces and nephews: Bianca L. Garza (Ana K. Becerra), Linette Torres, Emilio Torres (Kathy Chavez), Alexa Garza, Michelle Torres, Jorge A. Garza (Carolina Flores), Mateo A. Saucedo, Elio F. Mathieu, Remi L. Mathieu, and Troy J. Turner, along with a large circle of extended family and close friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Benito Garcia Jr. A celebration of Benito's life will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Rose Garden Funeral Home in Zapata, Texas. On Thursday, May 21, 2026, we will open our doors at 8:00 a.m. The funeral procession will depart at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery, including full Military Honors by the Zapata County Color Guard.
