ZAPATA, TEXAS---Beatriz Vargas Garcia 84, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Rio Grande City Nursing and Rehab.

Mrs. Vargas is preceded in death by her son, Jose Cutberto Vargas; grandson, Jorge Luis Vargas, Jr.; granddaughter, Miranda Marie Vargas and her parents, Ignacio and Rosa Garcia.

Mrs. Vargas is survived by her husband, Cutberto Vargas; children, Jorge Luis Vargas, Mirtha B. (Luis Lauro) Gonzalez, Maria (Jesus) Hi, Marisa (Jose Juan) Gonzalez, Joel A. Vargas, Maria Veronica (Valentin) Sermiento and Mabel (Hernan) Guzman; twenty grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Rosa Elena (†Amaro) Robles and a brother, Roberto (Santa) Garcia and by numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will depart on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 12:45 a.m. for a 1:00 p.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
