ZAPATA, TEXAS---Arnoldo "Shorty" Flores 77, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. Flores or Shorty, as many of his friends and family knew him, was a very outgoing person who had a passion for music and business. He worked many years for Zapata Independent School District as a teacher and band director. He was also a businessman that led him to own different types of businesses throughout his lifetime. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at his ranchito, drinking coffee with family and friends, and giving life lessons to all.


Mr. Flores is preceded in death by his parents, Mauricio and Leonor Flores; brothers, Mauricio Flores Jr., Ramiro Flores, Baldemar Flores; sister, Emma Lydia Munoz.


Mr. Flores is survived by his daughter Jessica N. (Joel) Cavazos; son, Arnoldo Javier (Sara) Flores; grandchildren, Joel Cavazos, II, Jose Daniel Cavazos, Mila Flores; mother of his children, Oralia G. Flores; sister, Idolinda Gutierrez; sister in law, Juanita Flores; and by numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.

Visitation hours were held on Monday, May 15, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession depart on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.


Committal services followed at Zapata County Cemetery.
