ZAPATA, TEXAS- Araceli Cavazos Vela 66, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at her residence in Zapata, Texas.

Mrs. Vela is preceded in death by her parents Emede and Araceli Cavazos.

Mrs. Vela is survived by her husband, Noe G. Vela; son, Noe G. Vela Jr.; daughters, Elizabeth (Humberto) Galvan, Selina M. (Geovanni) Gonzalez, Lorena A. (Adreana) Vela; grandchildren, Humberto Galvan Jr., Geovanni Gonzalez, Leonardo Galvan, Jeraldin Gonzalez, Renato Galvan, brother; Aaron (Gilma) Cavazos; sister Francisca M. Salazar. and by numerous other family members and friends.

Araceli was a proud member of the Class of '78, whose strength, love, and devotion shaped the lives of all who knew her. She had a joyful spirit and loved the simple pleasures in life. She was an enthusiastic bingo lover, always ready for a good game and laughter. A true cat lover, she found comfort and companionship in her feline friends. Baking was another way she showed love. Sharing love through homemade treats that brought family together and created lasting memories. She was a devoted mother and a remarkable grandmother. Her greatest joy and true passion was watching her grandchildren play sports. Whether on the sidelines or in the stands, she was always present, cheering loudly, smiling proudly, and never missing an opportunity to support them. Seeing them play filled her heart with happiness and gave her endless pride. Araceli will be dearly missed but never forgotten her love lives on through her children, grandchildren and all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

On Friday, January 30, 2026, we will open at 8:00 a.m., the funeral procession will depart at 10:30 a.m. for a 11:00 a.m. funeral mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
