ZAPATA, TEXAS—Anselmo A. Rodriguez Jr, lovingly known as Chemo, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas, at the age of 48.

Chemo is preceded in death by his father, Anselmo A. Rodriguez; paternal grandparents, Rogelio and Berta Estela Rodriguez; maternal grandparents, Anastacio and Alicia Benavides.

Chemo is survived by his wife; Myrna Rivera; son, Francisco J. Pena Jr (Cassandra Gonzalez); daughter, Alvaly Pena (Mario Torress); grandchildren, Francisco J. Pena III, Mateo A. Torres, Alexa M. Torres; mother, Martha Rodriguez; sisters, Celina (Sergio) Alaniz, Mirza L. Rodriguez; brothers, Abel (Marisol) Rodriguez, Rogelio G. Rodriguez and by numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.

Chemo was a beloved son, husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend to so many people. Chemo had a way of bringing laughter wherever he went with his endless jokes and infectious humor. He was deeply loved and the most caring, kindhearted person of all and his friendships are a testament to the kind and genuine person he was. Chemo was also a proud graduate of Zapata High School, class of 1994.

Visitation hours will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, we will open at 9:30 a.m. with a chapel service at 11:00 a.m., at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.
