ZAPATA, TEXAS---Alonzo Mendoza 76, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas.

Mr. Mendoza is preceded in death by his parents, Primitivo and Estanislada Mendoza; and niece, Marlyna Liz Salinas.

Mr. Mendoza is survived by his wife Helen Byrn Mendoza; son Alonzo Mendoza Jr.; brother, Roberto (Oralia) Mendoza; sister, Socorro (Alonso) Salinas; nephews and nieces, Mario (Vanessa) Mendoza, Marisol M. Raymond, Margarita M. (Alex) Garcia, Dario A. (Susie) Salinas, Leopoldo (Norma) Salinas, Lorenzo Salinas, Arturo (Magda) Salinas, Israel Salinas, Leticia Salinas and by numerous grand-nephews, grand-nieces and many friends.

Visitation hours were held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home.

The funeral procession departed on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Committal services followed at Zapata County Cemetery, including full Military Honors by the American Legion Post 486 Color Guard.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
