ZAPATA, TEXAS— Almicar "Mic" Vargas 62, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at his residence in Zapata, Texas.

Mic is preceded in death by his wife Wanda B. Vargas; parents, Trinidad and Manuela Vargas; siblings, Paula Lopez, Virgilio Vargas, Dora V. Mendoza, Adelmira Flores, Juanita Vargas; in-laws, Silvestre and Guadalupe Bustamante.

Mic is survived by his son, Almicar Vargas Jr.; daughter, Arlina Vargas; grandchildren, Mia Idalia Zavala, Cristobal Miguel Zavala; siblings, Gloria (Fernando) Neri, Tina (Amado) Coronado, Velia Rodriguez, Noemi (Rogelio) Saucedo, Clemente Vargas, Sandra (Juan) Gaona; nephew, Ray Lopez Jr and numerous other family members and friends.

On Friday, July 18, 2025, we will open at 9:00 a.m. and depart at 10:30 a.m. for a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Zapata, Texas.

Committal services will follow at Bustamante Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rose Garden Funeral Home Daniel A. Gonzalez, Funeral Director, 2102 N. US HWY 83 Zapata, Texas.
