ZAPATA, TEXAS---Alejandro R. Ramirez, 74, from Zapata, TX passed away on October 23, 2023.

Alejandro, "Uncle Tato," as he was known to his family, was born on November 20, 1948 to Alejandro Ramirez Saenz and Erotidia Garcia de Ramirez in Laredo, TX. He was a loved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had many accomplishments that all of his family looked upon with pride. He was a proud graduate from Zapata High School and Texas A&I University in Kingsville, TX.

After graduating with a degree in Business Administration, Alejandro began a path to a successful career as a civil servant to his community. He particularly made his family proud with his stead as the Zapata County Treasurer for many years.  His love of civil service was his passion. He enjoyed politics, debates, the news, studying human nature and religion, and having ardent conversations about the many facets of life.

Uncle Tato retired in 1997 and spent the rest of his time enjoying his home life, dining with friends, visiting family, and finding joy in life as he saw fit.

Alejandro was predeceased by his father, mother, his brother Alberto Rosendo, and his sister, Alma. He is survived by his siblings Adrian (Marianela) Ramirez, Aleida Ramirez, and Alberto Ramirez, his nieces Selina Ramirez-Ramos, Anell (Jair) Ramirez-Garcia, Nicole Adibi, Alinna (Zachary) Umphres-Lopez, Daniel Bob (Sara) Umphres, and grand nieces Isabella Ramos, Liliana Ramos, and grand nephews Joaquin Ramos, Cristian Garcia, Daniel Jax Umphres, and Hunter Lopez. His nieces and nephews were blessed to have an uncle who brought laughter, mischief, joy, dedication, and a genuine love to their lives.

Services will be held at Rose Garden Funeral Home on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. with a rosary at 9:00 a.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.  Committal services will follow at Zapata County Cemetery.  Please join our family in remembrance of our beloved Alejandro.
